Movie: Searching For Sugarman

“Home is acceptance.” When I heard that line from the indie film/documentary “Searching For Sugarman,” time stopped and although the movie continued along, I was traveling through an echoing tunnel as every cell in my body acknowledged that simple truth.

I urge you to run to see this movie and I don’t want to give too much of it away – that’s how good it is! If it’s not in the theaters by the time you read this, do not give up until you find a way to rent it!

This movie is about Rodriguez and it will move your heart as it explores the themes of creativity, connection, spirit, humility, purpose, identification, politics and the remarkable flow of a life over time. Its power and grace are in the story’s unfolding and in the lessons it delivers straight to the heart without being preachy or sentimental.

Home is acceptance and when we can accept, then we are truly at home – at peace. Remarkably, Rodriguez is a man who is at peace. His story, his words and his music reflect that out into the world. Thankfully, decades later, the world is finally listening.
