Sometimes You Just Need A Kick …

I created this Strawberry Kick Protein Shake on a morning when I did not want to get out of bed and face the day. I know you’ve been there with me before.

Some days you just don’t want to get out from under the avoidance blanket!

It could be because it’s  a Monday or a Wednesday or a Sunday.

It could be not wanting to get to a job/boss/co- worker/project that you dread.

Maybe you want to avoid a conversation, a meeting, or even thinking about something or someone.

Perhaps you’ve neglected yourself – not enough exercise, not enough sleep, not enough water, nourishing food or even sunshine!

Maybe you’ve been ignoring your dreams for your life – your heart’s yearnings, your soul’s passion.

Well, I know avoidance when I feel it. So I slipped out of bed,  meditated and I went into the kitchen to make my morning breakfast shake.

I gently allowed myself to be drawn to the ingredients that would soothe my emotional reluctance.
Juicy farmer’s market strawberry kisses, comforting vanilla protein shake mix, friendly chia seeds and black pepper for some internal warmth and hugs.

As I slowly sipped my shake, feeling the care and love that I was giving myself, I gave myself permission to explore the reluctance I was feeling.

Gently I looked at it through different angles. What was I so afraid of that I wanted to hide away from it in bed that morning?

Oh … I see. Really, that?

Knowing that fear and excitement are really flip sides of the same coin, I chose to embrace ‘excitement.’

What mental and environmental changes would I have to make in order to take this task on? Who was I going to ask to help me with that? What new level of learning would I need to step into? How much trust and belief in myself would I need to embrace? And most importantly: what were the Daily Actions I would need to commit to and take to support all the areas of my life, shoring up my excitement to make my desires my reality?

And thusly, this very blog was born.

Strawberry Kick Protein Shake

8 oz. water (or hemp milk/rice milk/almond milk, etc.)

3 ice cubes

2 scoops Arbonne Vanilla Protein Shake Mix

1 scoop Arbonne Fiber Boost

1 tablespoon chia seeds

1/2 cup sliced, fresh strawberries

1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

about 5 good grinds fresh pepper (or to taste)

garnish: another grind of fresh pepper + one gorgeous, juicy strawberry!

Making the shake:

Place all ingredients into a blender and blend away until it’s all incorporated and smooth – for at least one full minute.

Pour into a tall glass; garnish with a grind of fresh pepper and one whole strawberry.

Drink and step into your power!
